Pocket Spring Mattresses

The pocket spring mattress is the most common type in Estonian homes, and for good reason — individually pocketed springs provide point-elastic support that adapts to your body, while the air space between the springs delivers the best ventilation of any mattress construction. That makes spring mattresses especially suitable for people who sleep hot. Each mattress contains thousands of springs sewn into separate fabric pockets that move independently, so a partner turning over does not carry across to your side of the bed. A reinforced edge zone keeps the mattress in shape for years and lets you use the full sleeping surface right to the edge. Above the spring core sits a comfort layer of cold foam or memory foam that softens the feel and relieves pressure points. Available in all European standard sizes from 90×200 to 200×200 cm.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between pocket springs and Bonnell springs?

Pocket springs sit in individual fabric pockets and move independently, giving precise point-elastic support and absorbing partner movement. Bonnell springs are wired together and move as a unit — cheaper, but less precise and they transfer motion across the whole mattress.

Can a spring mattress be used on an adjustable bed?

Pocket spring mattresses work with most adjustable frames because the springs flex independently. Check your frame manufacturer’s guidance, as models with very rigid edge reinforcement may flex less.

How many springs should a good mattress have?

For a double, 800–1200 pocket springs is considered good. The count matters less than the zoning — a good mattress supports the shoulders more softly and the pelvis more firmly.
